The presence of forskolin was found in the leaves and in the root of the coleus barbatus, however, the root is a much richer source of it. Since then, research has shown that forskolin is helpful in the treatment of diseases such as:
- Arterial hypertension
- Hypertension in the eyeball
- Cystitis
- Respiratory system diseases, e.g. bronchial asthma, cystitis
- Skin diseases, e.g. acne, psoriasis and erythema
- Allergic diseases
It has also been found to support the work of the digestive and immune system.
Research on the anti-cancer effect of forskolin is ongoing - it is already known that after introducing it into the diseased tumor tissue, the growth of cancer cells is inhibited. The pharmaceutical industry takes advantage of one more valuable property of forskolin.
This substance increases the production of the organic compound cAMP in the human body, which accelerates the breakdown of fat cells in the muscles, regulates the secretion of thyroid hormones, which improves metabolism.
Forskolin also reduces sugar fluctuations in the human body, thanks to which we can more easily deal with sudden attacks of hunger while losing weight.
By suppressing appetite, the active substance forskolin helps to reduce the amount of fat in the body without loss of energy.
The three-level action of the substance means that the slimming process is effective and without side effects.
The regular use of infusions of coleus barbatus or preparations containing extracts from this plant prevents the development of diabetes in the future and helps to stabilise blood sugar level.
