New research on this plant indicates that eating one avocado a day significantly reduces cholesterol. The researchers published their research in the Journal of the American Health Association. They examined 45 healthy overweight people who were on typical American diet, rich in saturated fats and carbohydrates.
During the 5 week research, half of the people switched to a low-fat diet(24%fat) and the other half had a diet containing 34% fat. In a group which less fat was consumed, their source of enrgy was rapeseed and sunflower oil, whereas in the one where they were eaten more, their source of energy came from avocados.
Both diet reduced LDL cholesterol in blood because it was much healthier than the average diet in the USA. And it turns out that among those who ate avocados, their cholesterol was reduced more. LDL decreasd by 13 points, while those who were on low-fat diet without avocado reduced their cholesterol by only 8 points.
Why? All forms of monounsturated fats, such as avocados, lower cholestrol and support heart health. According to the researchers, avocados additional ingredients that lower cholesterol, such as fiber and plant, as well as carbohydrates that reduce apptite.
Avocados contain 320 calories and about 30 grams of fat, which is a daily dose for many people on a diet. In order to achieve positive results, the amount of fat in the diet should be reduced and it should be replaced by avocados. If you make a chang like that, you will see that your cholesterol is quickly decreased. Insted of mayonnaise, put a slice of avocado on the sandwich. You can aslo replace it with cream in the soup. It is a good thing to eat a slice of avocado that is sprinkled with lemon juice and salt.
